Our Vision
A Public Health System That Protects Youth with Chronic Conditions
Autoimmune diseases are often invisible, but their impact a person’s health is significant.
From misdiagnosis to lack of school support, from underfunded research to social stigma, youth living with chronic autoimmune conditions face barriers that no child should have to navigate alone.
At ImmuneTogether, we want to tackle these systemic issues..
Our vision is to shape a future where youth autoimmune care is prioritized in public health systems through bold advocacy, equitable education, targeted funding, and youth- led solutions.
I. Expanding Access & Equity in Autoimmune Diagnosis
Many autoimmune diseases go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for years—especially in youth and marginalized communities. We support:
Legislation that funds early screening and expands pediatric autoimmune research
Nationwide training for healthcare providers on recognizing pediatric autoimmune symptoms
School-based health programs that support referrals, mental health services, and education
II. Protecting Youth Rights in Schools & Health Systems
Chronic illness often leads to educational disruption, bullying, or denial of rights. We believe all young people deserve dignity, support, and access. We advocate for:
Federal guidelines that guarantee 504/IEP protections for autoimmune students
School mental health policies tailored to the realities of chronic illness
Youth-led advisory boards in school districts and public health departments
III. Investing in the Future of Autoimmune Research
Research into pediatric autoimmune diseases remains severely underfunded. We support:
National funding programs for autoimmune conditions beyond the most common (e.g., lupus, Type 1 diabetes)
Inclusion of youth in clinical trial design and patient advisory panels
Partnerships with universities to launch teen-led community research and innovation grants
IV. Centering Youth Voices in Public Health
No policies about us without us. At ImmuneTogether, we believe that youth should shape the systems that serve them. We’re building a public health future where:
Teen advocates testify at hearings and influence health policy
Schools and hospitals adopt youth-informed equity frameworks
Chronic illness is addressed not as a private issue—but as a public priority
⭑ One future. One voice at a time. Together, we are Immune.
